TMS TREATMENT

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate brain regions involved in mood, thinking, and emotional regulation.

TMS treatment is performed without surgery or anaesthesia within an outpatient centre, and is generally well tolerated, with little to no pain during sessions.

At Healthy Brain TMS, we offer TMS treatment as an integrated, personalised approach to supporting mental health outcomes, using TGA-approved TMS devices.

CONDITIONS TREATED WITH TMS

Healthy Brain TMS offers TMS treatment under the supervision of a psychiatrist as an evidence-based approach for the specific treatment of Major Depressive Disorder.

In Depression, TMS works by helping restore normal activity in parts of the brain that may not be functioning properly by activating them over the course of 7 weeks.

TMS may also be used to support other conditions such as Anxiety Symptoms in Depression, PTSD, Chronic Pain, Insomnia, OCD and Addiction.

TREATMENT PROCESS

TMS service at Healthy Brain TMS is a seamless process that generally follows:

Step 1: Get a referral from your GP or psychiatrist ( Referral form ).

Step 2: Have an initial assessment by a Consultant psychiatrist at Healthy Brain TMS for treatment suitability

Step 3: If suitable, TMS treatment is administered for 20 minutes, 5 days per week, for ~7 weeks. Some individuals may be eligible for another 3 weeks of TMS (maintenance treatment) after 4 months, if required

COST OF TMS SERVICES

At Healthy Brain TMS, individuals can access TMS services via the Australian Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), WorkCover, and Out-of-Pocket.

The psychiatrist assessment and TMS treatments for Depression is 100% funded through the MBS, DVA and WorkCover for eligible individuals.

Individuals may also consider a low-cost Out-of-Pocket option if they are not eligible for other payment or are seeking treatment for conditions other than Depression.
